Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)
We are pleased to announce that Nash Animal Hospital offers Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) to everyone as a treatment option. LLLT can replace some other treatments, or at least greatly reduce the need for other therapies.
This fascinating mode of therapy has multiple applications in the treatment of many aliments, syndromes, inflammations, injuries, and overall pain relief. Unlike other lasers which generate heat (Class IV Lasers) or are used in surgeries (CO2 laser), LLLT cannot burn the patient, which provides a much safer and painless experience.
LLLT has been used in human medicine for over 25 years with great success and no side effects. Over 3000 worldwide studies have shown LLLT to be safe for human use. It has only recently become available in the veterinary field as an alternative medicine. I believe this will be a great aide for many conditions traditionally treated with a host of oral, topical, and injectable medications. Each of those medications carries its own potential side effects and cost, not just for the medication itself, but also for the routine lab testing used to monitor for possible internal organ damage caused by the medication.
Some of the potential conditions treated with LLLT include:
- Arthritis
- Bursitis
- Acute and Chronic Shoulder Lameness
- Tendonitis
- Ligament Strains
- Hot Spots
- Otitis Pain (from ear infections)
- Wounds
- Cystitis
- Ulcerations
- Gingivitis
- Spinal Pain and Disc Inflammation
- Lick Granuloma
- Post-operative Incision Treatments to speed healing and reduce pain
